Amazon Prime What’s Hot and What’s Not

If you love online shopping then its not possible that you haven’t heard about Amazon Prime. Most premium feature of the most popular e-commerce site in the world. Amazon Prime brings a Santa’s bag full of features for its subscribers. But is it worth it? Even though Amazon tries to allure its subscribers with magnificent advertisements, there are some things that leave us with some questions. Let’s go through this in detail.

What’s Hot

1. Delivery Time

Ok. What’s the worst part of online shopping? Most would agree with me that the wait that follows the order is the worst feeling. So Amazon allows you to skip the waiting process by subscribing to Amazon Prime. Get your product in your hands faster with free two-day delivery service. One hour delivery is also available in selected cities from local stores.  For instance, in New York City you can get delivery of beer, wine, and spirits from Westside Market, Union Square Wines, or Vintage Grape. Amazon recently expanded its Prime Now delivery to include Annapolis, Cleveland, Louisville, North/Central New Jersey, and Pittsburgh.

2. Entertainment

Amazon Prime brings with itself an array of entertainment features. Subscribers get free access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Photos, Kindle’s lending library, and Add-On video subscriptions.

This year Amazon Prime also integrated Twitch Prime for its gaming subscribers. Twitch Prime also brings with it in game loot and special gifts for a selection of games.

Prime Video allows users to watch unlimited movies and TV content. You can also add video subscriptions to Showtime, Starz, A&E, AMC, and many other streaming entertainment channels.

For people with a reading buff, Amazon Prime also brings Kindle First. Subscribers can download a book for free every month from the Kindle First Picks. While Kindle’s lending library lets you “rent” a book for a month.

3.Amazon Elements

Amazon Elements is Amazon’s own brand of everyday essential products. You may not be very familiar with this range as it is Prime exclusive. Amazon Prime subscription allows you to browse this line of products.

Amazon Elements products range from Baby Wipes to Multivitamins. What’s cherry on the top is the transparency in the manufacturing process of these products. Amazon provides complete detail about these products including the products used and where they were bought from.

4. Prime Day

Started in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th anniversary, Amazon celebrated its third Prime Day as a two day event in 2018. On Prime Day, the retailer rewards Amazon Prime members with more than 100,000 exclusive deals.

Prime Day is a shopper’s heaven who wait for Black Friday sale and holiday season all year long.

5. Miscellaneous Benefits

  1. Amazon Household: Amazon allows Prime users to share content among the family. Two adults and two children of a family can share content from same Prime membership.
  2. Amazon Scout: Amazon’s AI scout that keeps you updated with new suggestions and recommendations according to your shopping trend.
  3. FreeTime Unlimited: This service is focused on children and offers thousands of books movies and TV shows for children aged 3 to 10. A new category for children aged 9 to 12 is also added.
While it’s not free with Amazon Prime membership, it is available at half the price for normal users giving Prime members a benefit of $2 per month.

So that’s what Amazon Prime membership offers you. But like we said, that’s not all. There are some flaws present in Amazon’s plan for premium customers.

Cold Stuff

I would be very straight with this. Amazon Prime is good and the benefits are plenty. But there are some things that we felt need improvement.

Firstly the most hyped feature, Prime Video. Prime Video offers unlimited content on all the devices with its app but its no Netflix. The library misses a lot. If you already have a Netflix or Hulu subscription then this service is not for you.

Similarly, Kindle freebies that Amazon Prime provides are good but for people who already have subscribed to Kobo books or Barnes & Noble, then it’s not very useful to you.

But Amazon is basically a marketplace and Amazon Prime caters that need of the users very well.

Verdict

Amazon Prime is a shopper’s dream come true. Surely, it has a few misses but the hits overshadow them. So, if you love Amazon products and its sales, it’s time to jump on the bandwagon and fulfill your shopping cravings.
